LochenHeath Golf Club names general manager and director of golf
Williamsburg, Mich. – LochenHeath Golf Club has named former True North Golf Club General Manager and COO, Kevin O’Brien, as its
new General Manager and Director of Golf. O’Brien joins LochenHeath Golf Club to lead its transition to a top tier private club.
O’Brien was hired after an extensive national search by LochenHeath’s owners. “We are confident that Kevin has the customer service,
business, and leadership skills to help us achieve our vision,” states Brent Maitland, chairman of the owners’ group. “He is a
consummate professional who will set the right tone for the club and ensure the LochenHeath experience is delivered with excellence.”
Under O’Brien’s guidance, True North was successfully converted to a private club in 2012 after being named to the Golf Digest list of
“America’s 100 Greatest Public and Resort Courses” as well as named a “Top 75 Golf Destination.”
Prior to his position at True North, O’Brien was the general manager and director of golf at The Resorts of Tullymore and St. Ives,
both of which earned a five-star rating from Golf Digest Magazine for quality, service, and overall experience under O’Brien’s leadership.
Additionally, Tullymore was rated by Golf Digest as one of “America’s 100 Greatest Courses.”
O’Brien will oversee LochenHeath’s operations, focusing on delivering world-class golf, exceptional dining, and attentive service — all
hallmarks of the cultured LochenHeath lifestyle. O’Brien joins an experienced, dedicated team, including executive chef Joseph George,
golf professional Travis Kamm, and superintendent Joe Ettawageshik.
“I’m thrilled to join the LochenHeath team,” O’Brien declares, “I welcome the new challenges and look forward to building on the strong
membership base. LochenHeath is a truly special golf course, capturing the beauty of the Traverse City area. It is a growing national
golf destination that will play a big role in our success.”
LochenHeath was designed by the esteemed golf course architect Steve Smyers, who has created award-winning designs for private clubs such
as Isleworth Golf & Country Club (host of the Tavisstock Cup) in Orlando, Fla.; Old Memorial Golf Club in Tampa, Fla.; and Wolf Run Golf
Club in Indianapolis, Ind.
With O’Brien’s guidance and experience, owners plan to convert LochenHeath from its current status as a semi-private to a fully private
club over the next three-to-five years. The club offers memberships by invitation. The membership will include local, seasonal, and national
members from across the country. During the transition to private play, outside rounds will be increasingly limited, as guests have an
opportunity to become full LochenHeath members.
